It is the material used to manufacture a lot of circuit breakers that you can find in your electric panel. Noryl is also very flame retardant and very strong at high temperatures. You can clean your panel with just about any cleaning solution on a damp rag so it can be disinfected safely. It is also quite easily cleaned and sterilized, something that some other panels don't handle so well in our experience. The seamless lower section of the panel makes it VERY water resistant (PLEASE do not submerge it!!!) and the mounting method is designed in such a way to prevent your animals from climbing on the panel or tearing it down. This odor is often gone just from exposure to air before you receive your new panel but it may be necessary to "burn in" the panel for 6-24 hours. Basically think of it as a "new car smell". Outgassing is a term that basically describes the gasses that new plastic may give off.
